THE ANDERSONS
"Virtuosos on clarinet & saxophone" (New York Times), Grammy-winning Juilliard graduates and identical twins, Peter & Will Anderson have been featured soloists on the Broadway stage, at the Kennedy Center, Blue Note, Jazz at Lincoln Center, New Orleans Jazz Festival, live on Garrison Keillor’s A Prairie Home Companion Radio Program, and can be heard on the soundtrack of HBO's Boardwalk Empire with Vince Giordano's Nighthawks. Along with phenom guitarist Adam Moezinia, the Anderson brothers will offer their interpretation of Great American Songbook gems by George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, Duke Ellington, and more.

Did you know that President Teddy Roosevelt used to go watch the young Duke Ellington play baseball with his friends? How about the fact that Jerome Kern slept through his departure for a trip on the Lusitania? Songbook Summit is packed with interesting facts about the creation of jazz, Tin Pan Alley, the invention of the radio and electric microphone, and the creation of the modern American musical. It includes 15 chapters about the intersection of Jazz and The Great American Songbook in the 1920s, 30s and 40s, on the iconic American figures, including Louis Armstrong, Benny Goodman, Frank Sinatra, George Gershwin, and Henry Mancini. How did these figures influence each other? And what role did they play in defining the cultural identity of America?
